What To Expect

Half-day & Full-day Trips

Our half-day and full-day trips blend thrilling rapids, stunning scenery, and expert guidance. From meeting our friendly guides to recapping over post-trip beverages, every detail ensures your safety and enjoyment.

Typical Itinerary

  • Meet & Check-In: Begin your adventure by meeting our friendly guides at the designated location. Look for our van with the OWA name/logo and colorful boats.

  • Complete Waivers: Your guide will provide liability waivers for everyone in the group to complete.

  • Load Up & Head Out: Once everyone is accounted for, we'll load up in the van and drive upriver to the put-in spot (approximately 10 minutes). We meet where the trip ends, so personal gear (towels, dry clothes, extra sunscreen, etc.) can stay in your vehicle. You'll only need a water bottle on the river. We provide dry bags for essentials like keys and wallets.

  • Arrival at Put-In: Upon arrival, guides will drop you off. Restrooms are available here, as well as at the lunch spot and take-out point.

  • Gear Up: Our guides will help you get ready with the necessary equipment:
Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs): Must use ours unless you have a certified whitewater-specific type 3 jacket.
Helmets: Available for everyone (required on the Umpqua, optional on the McKenzie).
Splash Gear: Waterproof jackets and pants to keep you dry and comfortable.
Neoprene/Wet Suit Booties: Available if desired. Any secure shoe is fine; no flip flops or slides.
    Paddles: Provided for everyone.

  • Safety Briefing: Before we hit the water, your guide will give a comprehensive safety talk, covering relevant hazards, safety procedures, and paddle commands.

  • Hit the Water: Let's go rafting! You'll divide into groups of six, with a guide in every boat.

  • Lunch Break (Full-Day Trips): For full-day trips, we'll stop for lunch after approximately two hours of rafting.

  • Return to Take-Out: After an exhilarating trip, we'll arrive at the take-out point, where your vehicles are conveniently waiting.

  • Wrap Up: Return your paddling gear to the trailer.

  • Post-Trip Beverages: Enjoy a refreshing drink while recapping the adventure with your guides and fellow rafters. Don’t forget to check out our merchandise!

Multi-day Trips

Our multi-day trips are all-inclusive, ensuring you can relax and enjoy the journey. With top-notch gear, delicious meals, and expert guides handling all the details, all you need to bring is your clothes and a toothbrush.

Typical Itinerary

  • Meet & Check-In: Start your journey by meeting our guides at the designated put-in location. Look for our van with the OWA name/logo and colorful boats.

  • Complete Waivers: Your guide will provide liability and vehicle waivers for everyone to complete. We’ll shuttle your vehicles from the put-in to the take-out, a service included in the trip price (bring two sets of keys).

  • Pack Personal Gear: Each group member receives a dry bag for personal items. We provide tents, sleeping bags, and pads—just bring your clothes and a toothbrush.

  • Gear Up: Our guides will help you get ready with all necessary equipment and lead a comprehensive safety briefing, covering relevant hazards and paddle commands.

  • Hit the Water: Let’s start rafting! You'll divide into groups of six, with a guide in every boat.

  • Lunch Break: After approximately two hours on the water, we’ll stop for a delicious lunch provided by OWA.

  • Settle into Camp: Upon arrival at the campsite, your tents will already be set up by our guides. Grab your personal dry bag, sleeping bag, and pad, and choose your tent.

  • Afternoon Relaxation: Enjoy appetizers, snacks, and beverages. Spend the afternoon as you wish—chat, nap, hike, swim, play games, or read.

  • Dinner & Evening: Savor a hearty dinner prepared by our guides. Relax and unwind in the evening; note that campfires are generally not allowed due to fire restrictions.

  • Morning Routine: Wake up and pack your personal dry bag, sleeping bag, and pad first thing. Bring them with you to breakfast so they can be loaded onto the gear boat. Guides will break down the tents.

  • Breakfast & Safety Recap: Enjoy breakfast followed by a quick safety talk recap.

  • Continue Rafting: Hit the water again for more rafting fun.

  • Repeat: Enjoy more rafting, breaks, and camping as described above.

  • Final Day: Arrive at the take-out around lunchtime. Your vehicles will be waiting. Unpack your personal gear and enjoy a final lunch and beverages while sorting out the gear and recapping the trip.
